Pronto Chronicles TV Overview
Return to the Pronto Chronicles Page.

My TV is an intergral part of my home theater system, the most important part when you really think about it. :) That is why it may be surprising that I don't use the TV section of my ccf that often, at least not directly.

I do not have any premium cable channels, so I use my VCR's to watch cable. I use the some of the TV's IR codes in macro's, but the only time I really use the TV section of my ccf to watch cable is on the rare occasion that I want to tape 2 shows, and watch a third all at the same time. This device is mostly here so I don't need to keep the TV remote around for those rare instances.

I try to make sure that I put the things I am going to want to use most often right on the first panel. When I use the Ant A input, which has a cable feed hooked to it, for watching TV the most common thing for me to do would be to change channels using the number pad, or to hit mute for a telephone call. I need to switch between input 1 (DVD) and input 2 (receiver) when my macro's get out of sync, so I put the input toggle on this page also.

You are probably asking yourself why I don't just use the discrete input IR codes to avoid that entire problem. I guess you could call it legacy design, I did things that way before I had the discrete codes. I have not found time to change to the discrete codes yet, so it is still useful.

There is not really anything particularly remarkable about this device, so that should cover it for now.
