I started this page in the early days of the DVD explosion. The DVD
format had not taken hold yet and was in danger of not taking off.
Hurdles like lack of content, circuit cities divix disposable DVD-like format,
and other considerations made the DVD formats future uncertain.
Those were also the days where you could buy DVD's for an average price of 6-10
bucks thanks to insane internet promotions. Tracking those deals down made it so
you could grow your DVD collection at a phenominal rate. There was a time when I
was trying to keep up with the DVD new releases, buying anything that looked halfway
decent. In hindsight that was a mistake because I don't think I watched most of those
DVD's more than once. I ended up selling off most of my collection because it was taking
up so much room. Now I am much more reasonable with it, if I suspect I will watch a
movie more than twice, I buy it. If not, I add it to my Netflix queue.
Netflix is an amazingly cool service that lets you rent DVD's through the mail with
no hassles or late fee's involved. For around $20 a month you can have 3 DVD's out at
a time with a fast shipping turn-around. In the past they had problems keeping enough
of the good movies in stock and the shipping delays were pretty bad, these days they seem
really on top of thier game.Netflix.com
